In this category  I will be featuring house building plans that focus on creative and sustainable design. I encourage “not-so-big” home design principles as a minimum consideration, focusing on smaller homes with quality amenities.   I also focus on affordability and the trade offs to consider when designing your own house.  Although I am not a proponent of “off the shelf” plans, they are often a good starting place and, with appropriate modifications to meet your needs and building lot, offer an affordable alternative to complete custom design.

I have gathered many sources for great home building plans that I will feature as well as a few good designers that will reasonably modify existing plans or collaborate on a custom design.
