I encourage “not-so-big” home design principles as a minimum consideration, focusing on smaller homes with quality amenities. I also focus on affordability and the trade offs to consider when designing your own house. Although I am not a proponent of “off the shelf” plans, they are often a good starting place and, with appropriate modifications to meet your needs and building lot, offer an affordable alternative to complete custom design.
I have gathered many sources for great home building plans as well as a few good designers that will reasonably modify existing plans or collaborate on a custom design. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs and sources for a plan that is appropriate for you.

We love your site and appreciate the information sharing. We’ve documented building our tiny house and have some pictures and video that may help others who want to build there own tiny house. We built on an 8 foot by 22 foot flatbed trailer and chose a composting toilet and a 3 foot by 3 foot shower. It has been great to stay in. Our website is http://www.ourtinyhouse.com and we hope that this site may help people too.
